Use case

Rehabilitation and repowering of existing plants

Plants that no longer deliver what they should: I assess their condition, evaluate the options and support the rehabilitation until reliable operation is restored.

Starting point

Yield losses, frequent faults, defective inverters or modules, plants partly out of operation and incomplete documentation. It is often unclear whether repair, revamping or full repowering pays off.

How I assess

Overview

Drone surveys

Aerial images and surveys show shading, soiling, damage and the actual layout.

Hotspots

Thermography

Thermal images reveal defective cells, modules, connectors and strings.

I-V curves · insulation

Electrical measurements

Strings, insulation values and inverters are measured and compared with target data.

How it works

  1. Survey Evaluate documents, yield data and fault reports.
  2. On-site inspection Drone, thermography and electrical measurements.
  3. Assessment and options Repair, revamping or repowering, each with costs and yield forecast.
  4. Roadmap and tendering Priorities, budget and award to suitable contractors.
  5. Execution and acceptance Site supervision, defect tracking and complete documentation.

From practice

In 2024 and 2025 I carried out technical assessments of around 30 existing plants in Italy with a combined capacity of approx. 45 MWp. Some were out of operation or in poor condition. Drone surveys, thermography and electrical measurements produced a robust assessment for each site and, from that, a roadmap for revamping and repowering.

What you get

  • Condition report per plant with photos and measurements
  • Comparison of repair, revamping and repowering
  • Prioritised rehabilitation roadmap with costs
  • Structured plant documentation

Why EPC experience helps here

I have built plants myself and know where errors typically occur in installation and electrics. That shortens troubleshooting and makes rehabilitation offers verifiable.
